MEET ERIC
FROM the working class; FOR the working class.
Lifelong Lake County resident. He was born and raised in Hammond, IN. He is the son of a Union Steel Laborer, and Retail Associate. After graduating from George Rogers Clark H.S. he went on to attend Purdue University Northwest via the 21st Century Scholars program.
After winning several awards and honors Eric wrapped up his academic career by being honored with giving the "Student Response" during commencement in December of 2003.
Eric was selected to be a keynote speaker for U.S. Senator Evan Bayh's 2004 Re-election campaign stop in Gary, IN as an outstanding example of Bayh's 21st Century Scholars program.
In 2007 he was diagnosed with a rare form of Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Eric underwent several rounds of chemo, surgeries, and a stem-cell transplant. Eric is no stranger to successfully overcoming challenges.
In 2018 Eric completed graduate study, earning his M.S. from DePaul University's Kellstadt Graduate School of Business, while working full-time. Taking the late trains back to Indiana. Studying and completing assignments while commuting on the rails and during lunch breaks at work.
Eric was rewarded with a scholarship from the business school in 2016.
Eric is passionate about public service and building stronger communities. He was a substitute teacher for the School Town of Highland, and worked in the non-profit sector in Chicago where he was honored for his Cause-Driven Leadership winning the 2013 Volunteer Award at YMCA of the USA, as well as chairing and serving on several boards and committees.
Eric currently resides in Highland, IN with his wife and love of his life, Angelica.
